Success Story | First Unit Delivered in 15 Days! Getech Stocker Supports Leading 12-Inch Wafer Fab Automation Material Storage
A leading domestic semiconductor memory manufacturer, specializing in design, R&D, production, and sales of integrated circuit memory chips, currently has a 12-inch wafer fab built and operational. It has multiple R&D centers and branches at home and abroad, offering various types of memory chips to meet diverse application needs.
As market conditions warm and external demand grows, the company's capacity gradually increases. The existing Stocker wafer storage warehouse (hereinafter referred to as Stocker) cannot meet the demand, urgently requiring expansion of FOUP storage.
As is well known, from early 6-inch wafer fabs to today's mainstream 8-inch and 12-inch fabs, semiconductor manufacturing processes have become increasingly advanced. Production line processes have multiplied, and key equipment throughput has rapidly increased through generations. Traditional manual material handling between production line equipment has become a bottleneck restricting production efficiency and quality. Therefore, AMHS began to emerge in 8-inch fabs and has become standard in 12-inch fabs.
AMHS mainly consists of OHT overhead transport vehicles, Stocker wafer storage warehouses, MCS/OHTC/STKC software systems, etc. As a key component of AMHS, Stocker is used for storing wafer carriers between semiconductor production processes in cleanrooms. It can communicate with upper-level systems for automatic material management, reducing material handling congestion, lowering transfer cycles, managing complex batch operations, and enabling efficient material transport. It also ensures sufficient equipment scheduling, providing vital support for fully automated factories.
Stocker is designed for cleanrooms. Working with OHT and other automated equipment, it builds an efficient AMHS that optimizes material flow based on production plans and needs.
2. Reduce Labor & Improve Efficiency
As a temporary storage in cleanrooms, Stocker balances capacity differences between equipment and processes, minimizing wafer transfer time and improving equipment utilization. Its control system automatically updates material location information to the MCS system for unified management, enhancing efficiency and reducing labor intensity.
3. Improve Product Quality
Stocker maintains high cleanliness for material storage. Real-time tracking of inventory and material flow helps quickly locate and resolve potential issues, improving product quality and enabling traceability in manufacturing.
4. Enhance Space Utilization
Stocker makes full use of idle floor space and vertical space in cleanrooms, increasing storage capacity within the same footprint and improving space utilization.
